I never fit in with other artists and musicians. They were
too busy trying to be like everyone else. My teachers also
tried to teach me the "same old same old" and that was against
everything I believed in. If I learned what everyone else did
that would mean I was treading where others had gone before.
While I respect other artists and that they may have had to go
through that process to get to where they are, my mind works
much differrently in that I don't favor either the left or right
brained ideolgy. I excel at both. Sometimes I think I have two
souls trapped in one body fighting for dominance. No polar
disorder, just hard to split my time between the technical and
artistic. I do find myself borrowing other artist's techniques
to some extent but in my own way and through my own creative
process.
I have been involved with personal computers since they
first became available to the general public and with large
scale mainframes before that. I use them to create music and in
helping design my art as well as maintaining the business
portion of my life. I retired a few years ago from my
programming career. I haven't really kept up with some of the
most recent innovations in web programming but can get by with
what I know. I don't see any need to reinvent the wheel and
there is enough technology to do what I need to do so will
leave the cutting edge to the yung pups who want to make a name
for themselves.
When I create a piece of art, I want it to be as pleasing to
touch as it is to look at so everything I do is textural and 3
dimensional. I want someone to be able to enjoy my art with
their eyes open or shut. I also see no reason art should be
priced so only the rich can enjoy it. Most of my work is
affordable and can serve a dual purpose either as a container,
an implement or as entertainment.
